Speed limit signs indicate the maximum or minimum safe speed that is allowed to be driven on a roadway. The maximum limits are for ideal conditions and you must reduce your speed when conditions require it.

A double yellow centerline means that it is prohibited for traffic from either direction to cross the centerline to pass.

It is not always easy to maintain a safe distance behind your vehicle. However, you can help keep the driver behind you a safe distance away from your vehicle by maintaining a steady speed and signaling turns, lane changes, and deceleration in advance.

Signs with a red circle and diagonal line over a black symbol indicate that the action represented by the symbol is prohibited. In this case, the sign indicates that left turns are prohibited.

A solid yellow arrow means that the protection of a green arrow is ending. If you are turning in the direction of the arrow, you should prepare to stop and yield the right-of-way to oncoming traffic before turning.

Children on bicycles are sometimes unpredictable. Young bicyclists are especially likely to make surprising changes in direction. Remember that children and bicycles are both small in stature and may become difficult to see.

If you are involved in an accident, you must stop your vehicle and move it from the roadway to the shoulder, provide aid to anyone who has been injured, protect the accident scene as much as possible, notify law enforcement as soon as possible, exchange information with other drivers involved, and submit any required forms to the DMV and your insurance company.

Look over your shoulder to check your blind spot every time you want to change your vehicle's position. If you are turning, changing lanes, or pulling toward or away from a curb, you should check your blind spots.

If your vehicle goes into a skid, you should turn the steering wheel in the direction you want the vehicle to go. As soon as the vehicle begins to straighten out, turn the steering wheel back the other way.

If approaching a bus using these signals, you may not proceed until the red lights have stopped flashing and the stop arm has been retracted. Never pass a school bus that is dropping off or picking up students.

Chevron signs like this indicate that the road curves sharply in the direction indicated by the chevron (in this case, to the left). There may be several chevron signs placed throughout a curve.

Warning signs are usually yellow with black markings. They alert you to conditions that are immediately ahead. This sign warns drivers that the number of lanes is reduced ahead and that traffic should merge left.

This sign warns of a winding road ahead.

When using a freeway exit ramp, do not slow down until you move onto the exit ramp.

This sign indicates parking spaces that are reserved for vehicles displaying Persons with Disabilities license plates, Disabled Veteran license plates, and/or disabled parking placards.

This sign indicates that the right lane ends ahead. A merging maneuver will be required for drivers in that lane.
